I live in China, Chinese people just do look ridiculously young and can be stupidly petite. I know a 7 year old western girl going to school in my town and most locals think she's about 12. I also taught at a college for 2 years where the girls would only pass for junior high at home but in reality are all over 18. It's not hard to believe the Chinese would lie about the age of a competitor but from experience and looking at the girls in the Chinese gymnastics team, it's just as easy to believe that they are the ages they say they are.
