What you're saying is true, but not for Nintendo.
If "enter random developer name here" announces a game 1 month before release no one will know about it. If they announce it 1 year before people will find out about their game, create some hype, but then the hype will be dead long before the game is released.
When Blizzard or Nintendo announces a game, the hype after 1 day or after 1 year is the same, HUGE.
