The point is, Sony has said that Nintendo is not competing for the same market. So why include them as a reference point?

I've read this article three times, each time looking for stuff that you think I missed. I know what Deering is saying:

Wii+DS=PS2+PS3+PSP by 2011.

I know that the article isn't about competition, but the media has done a lot to keep Nintendo out of the "race." Watch G4 or read Game Informer. They're both HD heaven. Comparing Sony sales to Nintendo is a little unexpected, I suppose.

Why would what Sony says matter? It's not like Sony is saying the opposite now. Just some guy who use to work for them. A former employee. It's not like Sony has anything to do with this one.
