@Darc Requiem Wow lots of text.
The PS3 has always been behind the 360.
Of course not because it is catching up the 360 headstart. If it overtakes the 360 once the "race" for second place is over because the 360 will never be ahead again. (My opinion)
There is no "momentum" that is swinging. The 360 is ahead and the PS3 has the better momentum (with the exception of the last two supply constrained weeks). If the 360 has better sales than the Ps3 for a month or so outside of a 360 price cut we talk again. But I will agree that the velocity of the catch-up is awfully slow currently.
As it stands now, PS3 weekly sales have been a slow decline with no major titles that would spike those numbers coming in the near future.
One or two big titles wouldn't change everything anyway. We have seen last christmas that a couple of things are needed. The PS3 overtook the 360 with a pricecut to 400$, some good exclusives and more important some good multiplatform games and better features through updates. FFXIII will not resurrect the PS3 in Japan. FFXIII, GT5, a 300$PS3, some smaller games for casuals etc. could be a different matter. We will see. I think it will do much better than now but will never outsell the Wii (in Japan at least)
It doesn't matter. Sony did this very sort of thing to get to top.
I won't argue about morality. They are a company and can do whatever brings them to the top (and is legal). I argue about the profit. They hurt SONY this is correct. But I think they could increase their own sales by far more with a different approach (for example by funding games that actually sell their own system).
By damaging Sony they strengthen their position by default.
PS3 and 360 have so many multiplatform games that more PS3 sales would hardly hurt them. This was true last gen where the PS2 was so dominant that developers simply skipped XBOX and Gamecube. I cannot see this happening this gen (at least not in the near term).
Also, nice doing this with you Kyros. Although I disagree with you, I can at least see your point of view.
Agreed
