I'm sure you also don't hear any of those people saying they plan to go out and buy another treadmill or the like either.

So, unsatisfied Wii Fit owners may not buy Wii Fit 2 or a third party published Wii Fit clone ... That doesn't mean that they won't buy Wii Sports: Resort or Kid Icarus when they're released.

So to carry your analogy further:

You expect someone who bought a treadmill and didn't like/use it to go out and buy a set of barbells?

No, that would not be my analogy at all ...

Wii Fit is much more like an Aerobics DVD than any other form of excercise equipment on the market, and much like Aerobics DVDs people are likely to be very motivated early on and (even though they see improvements) they tend to become unmotivated and give up after a short period of time. These people tend not to hold their failure to lose weight against the Aerobics DVD, and may buy similar products in the future (often only to go through this cycle again) but rarely has anyone gotten so frustrated by an Aerobics DVD to the extent that they refused to buy movies in the future.
