Not really. Compared to todays games its pretty bad, but it doesn't really suck. Yeah there isn't much of a story, but the gameplay makes up for it. The gameplay is straight and simple, and the Job system is excellent imo. Definitely a good rpg, but a bad FF game. FFIV is more balanced, and is the better game, but that doesn't mean FFIII sucks. It is definately my favorite NES FF.
