If Nintendo went away there wouldn't BE a gaming world. Study your history. Check around 1984-ish/1985-ish. Nintendo is the last thing keeping consoles alive. Gaming would have went to home computers LONG ago if Nintendo hadn't kept the console viable. And gaming wouldn't have advanced the way it did without the mass market power & reach of consoles. The PC World while it has its enthusiasts will always be niche...the high-end of it anyway. And not nearly as profitable. There's a reason why Nintendo changes the interfaces and stays steady on the innovationist tip. That's what keeps consoles from dying out as a medium. Specialized accessible gaming computers = Game console Never forget that. People think MS & Sony are best for this industry but if they knew their history they'd know that both of those companies would render the console extinct before long. High price and a focus on power for power's sake. A certain focus on the same type of customer. Why not just buy a gaming PC and be done with it? Consoles are BY DESIGN never to be on the cutting edge. They are always 3 steps or more behind. PC's are modular, consoles are more or less fixed. That's the difference. Study how power NEVER made a difference EVER in videogaming. Atari 2600 beat the pants off of the much more superior Mattel Intellivision. They said that the NES was weaker than the Sega Master System and we know the results of that battle. The only time EVER that a "console race" was close was in the 16-bit era with Nintendo & Sega & only in certain regions. They were comparable in power and Sega at first actually had more respect though it came out earlier. Playstation 1 whooped Nintendo 64's more powerful polygons. Playstation 2 dogged that purple lunchbox known as the Gamecube & that behemoth of onyx obsidian power known as the XBox. Wii's proving to prove this truism right once again with its understated power against its "HD" competitors. Don't get me into the handheld fights where a non-backlit B&W Gameboy trounced all superiorly specified competitors for 9 years straight then still doing the same with the NES-like GameBoy Color & SNES-like GameBoy Advance. And once again against its best competitor yet with the N64-like DS. The Importance of Nintendo John Lucas (just had to get that off my chest for a minute)
