Honestly, reading what was said, it doesn't seem like they have any hardware revisions planned at all right now.

As far as losing gamers, I think the majority of those losses are people who would never of been very interested in the first place. This entire generation for Nintendo has been about this calculated risk of possibly alienating certain hardcore gamers while trying to appeal to the mass markets more. So this is not going to be a new change that will impact sales trends. Honestly from what I read of the article it was pretty much the same 'ole stuff.
