I can't deny that's true amongst many of us forum-goers. Still, I think that's more of an image than a reality problem, which is what I was trying to get at in my last post. There's quite a bit there for the "core" gamer coming out these next few months (although I'll be the first to admit that I'm never entirely sure what that term encompasses nowadays, even if I do know that Mario Sluggers ain't it). And I think that's what this and many similar threads have been trying to say: Nintendo may be MIA, but third-parties are actually picking up the slack on a Nintendo console for the first time in over a decade (hence the "odd feeling" I referred to in the last post). Sure, people who already favor the HD consoles aren't going to change their minds this holiday season, but looking at the Wii exclusives and multi-plats, it seems to me like there's something for every taste, and that the Wii doesn't lag all that much behind the HD consoles in most genres (BIG exceptions: FPS and sandbox). Shoot, Activision's major franchises are all getting unaltered versions on the Wii, most Japanese companies have the lion's share of their console releases on the Wii nowadays, and the Wii is specializing in the quirky games that I find most appealing (Little King's Story and Rune Factory get!). In short, the light isn't as dim as it appeared at first blush. Having said all that, I have to add in the disclaimer that most of the big HD games this winter don't appeal to me personally, save for Prince of Persia and Mirror's Edge, so perhaps my blanket statements aren't as all-encompassing as I'd like to believe. And I agree with your ultimate point to Nirvana-Nut. From personal experience I know that when you start such a thread, you need to be prepared to finish it (which after my last experience is precisely why I won't be making these threads in the near future anymore. Although no one will ever make a longer post than I did!) So, Nirvana, the ball's in your court now.

Well if all you like is Mirror's Edge and Prince of Persia I'm going to have to agree that it's going to be a BIG minority opinion. Just about anything the Wii has coming out this Fall, there is some comparable HD game. My problem with this being a third party Fall is that they still haven't proven they can make good games on the Wii, and that's a bit troubling. You have your definite critical successes like Tales of Symphonia 2 and Fatal Frame 4 but there are also a ton of maybe titles that could go either way, because of the lousy work some studios have done in the past. I will say, even with my negatism(real word? nah), I still plan on purchasing a decent amount of Wii games, but it most likely will not dominate my purchases this year at all. Sam and Max Season One, Fatal Frame IV, Wario Lane Shake It and Samba de Amigo Wii all pretty much have my dollar.
Also just as an FYI, if you like quirky games you may want to look towards the downloadable services like WiiWare, Xbox Live and PSN. The reason I don't have to worry about quirky games is because they are all right there to download and you can get five or six of those for the same price as one retail game.

Looking forward to what you come up with!
