Well since you care so much about gaming. It actually does matter. If these players aren't game machines to the consumer. Then software sales won't increase. If software sales aren't increasing then it doesn't matter how much hardware you have out there. Developers just won't see it as viable, but at least if it is bought some one in the household may find out that it plays games. No garuntee though.
Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
