The PS3 and its software are tracking pretty similarly to the Gamecube, with the PS3's third party taking the helm of the Gamecube's first party. Pointing out that Sony is a failure for not matching the last generation, while also pointing out that Sony's competitors are successful for outdoing the last generation, is something that could have been pointed out ever since the PS3 launched. If the Wii tracks almost the same as the PS2, and the PS3 tracks alongside the Gamecube, than the only growth we've seen this generation for the home consoles is an extra 1 million or so from the Xbox brand.
Simply astounding, and I mean that with the utmost pessimism.
The home consoles mean nothing this generation save for the Wii. The DS and PSP will carry this generation until their successors come out. You could point out that the PS3 did worse than the PS2 in the other two regions and that its competitors improved as well. Again, it's what we've already heard.
