Nintendo - wii impressions - View Post

well, i finally got a wii. and here, i'll document my impressions as well as my intial first few hours with it.

so, i got it used from some guy. when i got it, it was in a little cute bag. i though, wtf? is this it? so i checked the content and my my my, is the wii small. a far cry from the ps3's huge size.

anyway, so i took it home and imediately started setting it up. conected the powerbrick, conected the video cables then started it up. as stated, the first thing which caught my attention was its size. very small. didnt take a lot of space which is good. the overall feal was nice. it didnt felt like a cheap toy as i've heard some say.

so got the wiimote, placed in new batteries and turned it on. but lo, it wasnt responding. i thought the damn thing was busted so i tried the second wiimote and again, no response. then i saw this slim rectangular thing sticking out the bag. stupid me, i forgot to attach the sensor bar. nintendo could have done better and made it like the ps3. but i supose, to get the accuracy they had to do it that way.

the wiimote and the nunchuk really felt odd at first as i was used to holding a controller. with the wiimote nunchuck combination i could have one hand on my lap and the other resting on an arm rest. really cool. good for lazy folks like me. then there's the orientation of the wiimote, i had to hold it the way i held a tv remote. it felt like i was changing channels all the time.

so when i turned on the wii, i found its interface lacking. but i wasnt really expecting much so meh. i didnt spent much time fidling around the wii interface, i immediatly poped in re4. graphic wise, it wasnt very impresive. probably coz of mgs4. but the defining feature was its controlls. aim with the wiimote and move with the nunchuck. very nice. easy to aim. but since i sucked at re, i just killed a couple of baddies then took out the game and poped in wii sport.

now wii sport i found to be really stupid. but for some strange reason, it all i've been playing since i got the wii. wii sport and game party. damn these two games are stupid. but like i said, i cant stop playing them both. must be the crazy factor.

then i decided to try out my xbox360, but thats another story.

to sum it up.

1. wii sport and game party are stupid but crazy fun

2. wiimote and nunchuck takes a little getting use to but is fun to use.

3. wiimote and nunchuck takes the hard out of fps games if you ask me.

4. graphics isnt much above a ps2 but still a bit better

5. very basic and straight to the point gaming console.

6. worth the purchase. and from the few hours i've spent playing it, i can only see more fun time ahead.
