Thank god I'm also part of the Niche. Otherwise I will be missing out on many great Jrpgs. Also pokemon and dragon quest are two other 'mainstream" jrpgs that are worth playing.

 

 

JRPG's are also classified as  either Action  or Hack n' Slash in Western European/North american nations.

Pokemon and Dragon's Quest are high selling games but I would not classify them JRPG's. I call them action games.

How is Pokemon an action game? All combat takes place through menus. If you were using self-doubting spiky haired emo types instead of cute monsters, you would probably recognize it for the JRPG that it is.
