For dbot - as per your request

For Konami - Q1 FY 09 - end Jun 30, 2008

Exchange Rate Used - 110

Digital & Entertainment - 44.9 Billion Yen = $408 million

Computer Games - 19.6 Billion Yen = $178 million

MGS4 - shipped more than 3 million units

dbot, you assumed that MGS4 accounted for 56.8% of Computer Games Revenue from 3.94 million units out of a total of 6.94 million units = $11.13 Billion Yen = $101 million

But the report says Metal Gear "GENRE" - so I am assuming that includes the other Metal Gear Games for PSP, PS2, etc.

To counter check:

PS3 comprised of 57.3% of revenue = 11.23 Billion Yen = $102 million

So far, it's pretty close.

However, you have to take into account the following games and some breakdown.  I'm not familiar with all of Konami's games, but here is a list for the PS3.

PES soccer, Karaoke, DDR, Baseball, etc.

So just looking at some data for the PS3 - per vgchartz - it seems like these other games comprise about 10% of PS3 software sales for Konami.

Therefore, I would suggest that MGS4 = 90% of PS3 Revenue

90% x 19.6 Billion Yen x 57.3% = 10.1 Billion Yen = $92 million

Therefore, most likely, MGS4 has revenues for the quarter of approx. $92 million dollars.

If they shipped 3.5 million units (assuming the rest are MGS games for the other mediums such as ps2, psp, cel phone games, online, etc.) --

then Konami makes approx. $25 to $30 in revenue per unit.

Which is probably in line with general consensus on games revenue to developer/publisher.

Hope that helps.
