"The opening sequence serves as a tutorial to familiarize you with the controls. The nunchuck's analog stick handles your movement, Z blocks, and C dodges. Over on the remote, A jumps, B activates your psychic spore powers, and the D-pad controls the camera. Combat is all waggle, all the time. This has us a little worried, as it's another example of seemingly unnecessary waggle that could have been handled with a button press."

The bolded struck me as an incredibly stupid comment, considering he just told us that every single other button which might have been used has been mapped to another function.

Seriously, what part of swinging to hit stuff is hard to comprehend?

If they don't front, the other gaming "journalists" will laugh at them. Waggle is a meme with these guys, and they hold onto them with all the determination and intelligence of a bulldog.

IGN's Nintendo team plays too much Xbox...

I'm personally fed up with hands-on previews that just say "waggle" and move on. Was it just simple shakes, did you have to time it like Okami, there a lot of this combat, the rabbits have a lot of hit points and you have to "waggle" for a long time? Anything? No, how informative. =P
