Definetly against.
I read in 'The God Delusion' by Richard Dawkins that 1/3 of people on Death Row in the 20th century, have been pardoned after their death. I don't know how many people were on Death Row in the 20th century, but 1/3 were innocent people. If they had been sentenced with life in jail, then after they were found innocent, they could have returned to their families.
I would be pretty pissed off, if I was on trail for a crime I didn't commit, with the possibility that I could be sentenced to death if found guilty by 12 gullible idiots from the general public.
