Depending on how you define "Struggle" that could be considered an accurate statement ... When you align regional launches, it took the PS3 a similar ammount of time to make it to 10 Million units as it took the PS2 to make it to 20 Million units. On top of that the PS3 needed several different bundles, Sony had to introduce a new model at a lower price, and the Blu-Ray consortium (read: Sony) had to spend hundreds of millions of dollars to secure exclusivity from certain movie companies to kill HD-DVD in order for the PS3 to break 10 Million units that quickly. I think that it is fair to say that the PS3 struggled to break 10 million in comparison to previous Sony systems. |
Sony didn't bribe Warner Bros, they cut off HD DVD support since Blu-ray was outselling HD DVD 3:1 at least.
