I've even seen that abused.
- If you limit the amount of points a user gets, they make multiple accounts.
- Even if they can only do so much per day, they will do that every day.
- These things are generally anonymous so it's no possible to punish people.
- Even if it wasn't anonymous why should people be punished for giving their opinions on a thread when that very system is about giving opinions?
Believe me when I say this, karma systems do not work and ruin forums.
If you have a problem with a post or thread, you can do two things:
- Report the post or thread. If it really is a problem due to content, being a duplicate, flamebait, whatever, the mod will take care of it. That is why we have mods.
- If there isn't a problem with a thread or post but you just don't like it, ignore it. It's not that hard.
