@Jo21: Ok, then who leekgeek is? Nobody unless you know the person in someway. Same as the friendcode. Besides, you see only peoples Miis and their Miis names online. Most of the people are propably happy to know their real life friends online with the same name they are known IRL.
The M$ avatars are largely used (as i've understood) as Miis and they would be easy to implement on a friendcode system, where the avatar would be your gamertag and the friendcodes only purpose would be to verify the person in question (the only reason for the friendcode).
@Voyager: And the friendcode system is more accessible since you don't need to make a (random) name for you.
