They can just remodel their image with games and ads slowly with more focus on some games that appeal to the target audience, MS is trying with their Avatars while nintendo just go casual fully leaving the job to 3rd party and a few core games. They still can change now but it could cost them their userbase and also it may not work so there is a huge risk invlove.
