The game definitely has more than its fair share of 'annoying' sub-games and elements. But you just have to get through them, to enjoy the real "cream of the gameplay".

I'm finally at the final boss (or so I think :P), and the last few hours of gaming have been heavenly. The final boss also rates as one of the best I have ever seen (in any game) in terms of creativity and experience.

Its definitely worth it - fight through these poor bits for the full experience.

(the most annoying bit in the game IMO was the "bamboo" digging game - it was just a little too hard, and it actually took me a while and some real thinking to finish it).
