I don't think Gamestop ever stopped selling the 20gb. It has been available at 499 since launch. Now, since the 60gb is available at that price, and they apparently still have some 20gb consoles left, they don't have much choice but to sell it at a discounted price.
If I was in the market for a PS3 right now, I'd buy it without so much as blinking.
