Well, at least Nintendo isn't trying to copy its successful competition. There is something to be said for doing your own thing. Look at the Wii. Has it needed online? Is online functionality important to the casual market? Do people really want to download netflix on their Wiis?

No, I think Iwata knows more about what he's doing than anyone on this topic, and the journalist that interviewed him.

Second guessing him isn't something I'd be prepared to do.

That said, I think less than half of the people who have posted here, read this topic. They just read the subject, thought this was another "CEO says something stupid" post, and made general comments. Smooth as silk.

"i" don't need it doesn't mean it isn't important.

for a company that make 1 billion in a quarter put some dedicated servers would not be a big  thing.

and yes i'm pretty sure users would want to be able to rent movies/download demos/ in their wii
