1. have the console in the vertical position, not horizontal.
2. Using it as a dvd player makes it overheat even more, just like the ps2.
3. Buy a good accessory to keep it cool.
4. Don't leave it on when you aren't playing it, unless you are downloading something.
5. Keep the system on a raised surface (Don't just leave it on a carpet!) like a desk.
6. Take that 15-minute break between every hour!!! It's good for your health too.
7. Disable the ring lights in your 360.

10. Have HD-DVD drive and console in "Missionary position"
