What exactly do you mean by "biggest title of the generation?" If we're going by sales, MKWii looks like it'll be the best selling game of this generation (unincluding Wii Series). A "little yearly release" that sells more than any other game is not just another game. Otherwise, you could say the same about a game like FF7. Also, by sales, MGS4 isn't Sony's biggest title, not even close. If you're going by innovation, Brawl hasn't done much new either. Nor has MGS4, for that matter. Big innovative titles would go to LBP, Wii Series, etc. That only leads to the assumption you're talking about game quality (opinion or reviews). However, for these companies making the games, that doesn't mean anything. Sales / money talks, the "hardcore" niche make up a very small % of the total people that buy video game consoles - their opinion is only worth the money they spend, no more. Remember that less than 5% of the PS2 population bought the MGS games on that console. |
@cOrd: Many gamers do not count Wii or Wii's games because they don't like them. It's that simple.
They immediately dismiss casual titles, quirky titles, games with Mario or Zelda in them, and games that include motion related gameplay element (they refer to this as teh waggle).
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
