Straight lines I can do without the Z button. Trauma Center taught me that when you want straight, a fast stroke is better than a careful one.
Only troublesome brush command for me was the ∞ fire command.
As for melee combos, it's all about deliberate gestures to the correct rhythm. Jerk the wiimote to the left for one attack, then the right for next, then back to the left, with a properly timed pause between each stroke. Or just get a rosary and spaz out.
Controls definitely could have been tighter, but they were far from game breaking.
