Environment: "the circumstances, objects, or conditions by which one is surrounded"
"the complex of physical, chemical, and biotic factors (as climate, soil, and living things) that act upon an organism or an ecological community and ultimately determine its form and survival b: the aggregate of social and cultural conditions that influence the life of an individual or community"

Correct. Now how does that pose a problem to being able to play the game?
You are confusing gameplay with physics.

I'm not confusing anything its probably you... Have you played Uncharted? If you did you would know that when he swims his clothes get wet. This is forsehadowing that the pysical environment willplay a role in the game, and later on the gameplay.

I liked your snow analogy better.
