It could be interesting to watch if the 360 does come out in September at $199.99. Because I think that the way that most consoles etc are sold is by word of mouth. I think that scarcity generated a lot of hype which led to many Wii sales; however, when people that don't have 360's or PS3's go over to their friends' houses and see incredible games running on 360's and PS3's that are miles beyond what is on the Wii combined with lower prices for the HD consoles, then more and more people will be inclined to pick them up and games for those systems.

It will come down to how long Nintendo can keep their casual audience convinced that Wii games are the best and only games versus the quality of the more general audience fare that Microsoft demonstrated at E3: games like Banjo Kazooie and the quality of the Live Gameshows, etc.

You could have said the same for nearly two years about the PS3, and for nearly 3 about the 360. The Wii is still smoking them. Its success is not ephemeral, no matter how desperately haters wish it to be so.
