It could be interesting to watch if the 360 does come out in September at $199.99. Because I think that the way that most consoles etc are sold is by word of mouth. I think that scarcity generated a lot of hype which led to many Wii sales; however, when people that don't have 360's or PS3's go over to their friends' houses and see incredible games running on 360's and PS3's that are miles beyond what is on the Wii combined with lower prices for the HD consoles, then more and more people will be inclined to pick them up and games for those systems.
It will come down to how long Nintendo can keep their casual audience convinced that Wii games are the best and only games versus the quality of the more general audience fare that Microsoft demonstrated at E3: games like Banjo Kazooie and the quality of the Live Gameshows, etc. It could also be that a lot of people that had planned to pick up the Wii because of word of mouth have already done so as more of them have appeared readily available in stores. I was in a local Wal~Mart a few weeks ago, and they had three or four Wii's sitting on the shelf in the middle of the day. That was the first time I had ever seen Wii's in that particular store as they had been selling out as soon as they came in seemingly since the console was first released. The local Hastings also had three, I believe, but they have a no return policy on theirs, so I would think the Wal~Mart ones would have been a better bet for purchase.
Nintendo's E3 showing was less than spectacular in my opinion.
