I think what people need to understand about handheld games in America, is that the majority owner of them are mainstream gamers. The only handheld games that get good openers in America are the pokemon games. Why? Well this is the biggest core handheld game alive. Thus it can open with more than a million.

Otherwise mainstream gamers buy steadily over time because they go by word of mouth, hype, mainstream appeal, ect. Thus you'll see this with many handheld games. That's why the majority of PSP and DS games sell well over time in America and Europe. Japan is a different story so won't get into that.

As for PSP software sales, they are abysmal and we all see that. Why? I really can't say why but I feel Sony doesn't pay much attention to the PSP. I just don't think they are backing the platform fully and I think that's hurting it.
