1- Microsoft has barely cut the price of the 360 since they launched it. Compare that with Sony's huge price drops. And let's face it, neither Microsoft nor Sony are being successful at the lose on hardware/make it up on software thing. My contention is that this is more of a problem for Sony than for Microsoft, due to the situation in the whole company.

The PS3 started of with the highest price point out of the 3 because of the advanced technology in it , Blu-Ray , Cell etc ( I think it was $900 or £425 at launch in the UK ) It was way out of the bugets of the average consumer a price cut was neccasery to target the mass media .

The PS3 has more perceived value for money than the 360 does , this is evident in europe where the cheapest current gen console (the 360) is also the least demanded console. Microsoft Cut the price because of a lack of interest , Sony cut the price to accomodate those unable to afford the console it's still at a price point which is beyond what many people can afford for a luxury .
