Eh, just ignore Celb.

No, he said something Anti-Nintendo, it's Rol's duty to attack him.

I would write up a long explanation, but I'll just put it at this:

Why did the NES sell 60 million, but the SNES only sell 50?

Competition from the Genesis and TG16.

Even if the Wii were the victor of the "console wars" (remember that it's nothing more than a marketing ploy, have some dignity), it would be unlikely to sell more than 100 million units like the PS2 did. There's just far too much competition from the PS3 and Xbox 360 this time around.

This may sound ridiculous to some of you, but the Wii is JUST a game system. Sure, it has some tacky features like a News Channel, Weather Channel, etc., but there's no real reason to buy it besides as a game console. The PS2 could be used as a DVD player, and that lured millions of consumers.

Some might claim that it would just be cheaper to buy a DVD player. True, but you could get a game console for your kids and a DVD player to watch movies all in one inexpensive choice. It was a must have.

The Wii is opening up to larger demographics, but until it is at a price tag of less than $200, it is unlikely to sell at numbers like the PS2.

Well put, but don't worry they'll tell you that NO ONE used their PS2 to play DVDs. Also, when the PS2 came out it was a "cheap" DVD player.

As for the title of the thread, it says best selling piece of hardware? Like it's going to outsell toasters? computers? cell phones? I know thats not what you meant, but still.

No, I do not believe the Wii is likely to outsell the PS2, though it will do very well. During it's lifetime the Wii will most likely outsell both the PS3 and 360, but it's life will be shorter than either of those systems, so overall I don't think it will sell the absolute most. The WiiToo will come out by them and be posed to still compete with the PS3 and 360. HD will be more relevant than many will admit. I've tried to explain before that the switch to upgrade to HD is faster than any other adoption in TV history, faster than b&w to color or VHS to DVD. Feel free to argue with me though.
