Sony should have just dropped the 40Gb price by $10 instead of clearing the channel of 40Gb before introducing the 80Gb. People intending to install a larger HDD would still buy it even if the value isn't as good as the 80Gb.
I don't see how shortages are good for anyone, it results in lost potential sales.
