GameStop Diaries:Gave 360 a chance.... Pt.2

Ok, moving on from the last Check-Out incedint that left a very bad taste in my mouth, my friend ushered me into checking something out USED for 360. I brushed off my usual unwillingness because I needed something to do while my friend was at work. See, I was suppose to spend the night at my friends crib while he had the house to himself. He un expectedly had to go to work so we decide to check something out to keep me occupied while I house sat.

Anyway, I spot a copy of Mass Effect, one of the few games that make me a little jealous of the other system. It always appealed to me yet I did not want a system for one game alone. So I picked that one.

So my friend leaves me all alone in his house with no one to keep me company but his two dogs, Sushi, and Rufus. That was ok because I am a complete animal magnet (and Sushi LOVES me).  I popped the game in, terrible flashes of my last rental enter my head. I started the game and wanted to get a real feel for the game's aspects so I planned on trying everything.  I am used to JRPGs and have never played a western one besides Oblivion due to the fact I think they are usually divoid of story and strong character growth.  I decide to make a character as western RPGs tend to give that option. What I found was not what I expected. I cant say I dont like the customization. I geuss I was wrong to assume Oblivion lvl of char design would be implemented, but there should have definitely been more. After tweaking ALL the stats in random directions my character still looked like a black version of the default face. Luckily I had nothing against the default, but others might have wanted deeper.

I played the game, time just flew on by. By the time my friend got back home it was late and I had clocked in about 13 hrs in the game. I think this games strong point is how everything is connected and ur decisions actually matter.  It is a space opera of sorts,but it has the wit of a buffy episode. I likey!  When I braught the game back to the store the nxt day I was pleased with my experience. Then the associate behind the counter said to me "What did I tell ya? all u do is talk in that game!" That is when I came to the realization. I spent over 13 hrs talking to hundreds of ppl. I had barely gone into the game that far. And to top that off out of the 13 hrs I was playing.......I think I only got into about 4 fire fights lol. I BARELY FOUGHT AT ALL!

Never the less, the game was good, still not warding a full system purchase tho. If I am to ever branch out from my currently owned console I need sum more actually good games. I think Lost Odyssey might be my nxt stop. But I dont know how much I can REALLY like it seeing as I despise Sakaguchi. I think he is rather dried up in talent and spent his big wad on FF 1-6 already. We shall see.........
