Well, from the bit that I've played of it thus far, the campaign seems to have a pretty slow learning curve, which is a breath of fresh air for a shmup. I'd imagine the complaints you've heard about the gameplay were from die-hard shmup fans, and really, there's enough tough-as-nails bullet-hell games out there to satisfy them already. =P

'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."
