Bad news is a game sucks; a game being late is a mild inconvience.
If you look at the game companys that are almost universally held in high regard, you will notice that all of them are very willing to delay games for as long as it takes to get games right. Five years later nobody remembers that a classic game came out six months late, and nobody cares that a bug ridden game came out on time.
