The awards spill in for LittleBigPlanet, despite the game not even launching yet.

The editors of 1UP.com and Electronic Gaming Monthly have recovered enough from this year's videogame preview overdose to place their votes for the best games seen at E3 2008. Some games, like Gears of War 2 were naturally expected to leave a big impression, but this year saw its share of unforeseen knockout punches with high-concept surprises like Flower, or the every-bit-as-good-as-promised showing made by Little Big Planet, which took Best of Show.

LittleBigPlanet also beat the likes of Spore and Mirror's Edge for GT's 'most innovative game' of E3:

Xplay and Whatifgaming.com also both voted the title 'best of show'.

Other media outlets also gave the title numerous awards including: 'Best Console Game' 'Revolutionary Design' 'Best Multiplayer Experience' 'Best Artistic Design' and 'Best Platform Game' among others.

IGN: "LittleBigPlanet is the epitome of imagination"

Kotaku: "If you really need comparisons, the game is like Line Rider meets Garry's Mod meets Super Mario Bros. meets an orgasm."

In my opinion this game is definitely looking to be a contender for GOTY.

October can't come soon enough for PS3 fans.
