So they can completely deny Bungie any right to put games on Sony or Nintendo platforms at all.

 

It was part of their agreement when Bungie wanted to go independent.  They mostly wanted it so they had more freedom to make what they wanted, not so much to develop for other platforms.  The only thing they're never allowed to make for another system is Halo, unless they get the explicit 'ok' from Microsoft.
