User's experience of the PS3
great things:
- I love the PSN games, the uniqueness and fun for so little money is really appreciated
- Most of the exclusive games I have played have been well worth the wait (and there was a hell of a lot of waiting for some.)
- I really love the ability to charge your controller using solely a min USB, some may think it's better to have batteries that you can switch out faster, but once you have more than one controller it's no question that rechargeable is fantastic
- Honestly I just love the look of the thing.....goes wonderfully next to my TV.
- Love editing the background of my XMB to games I'm looking forward to and using different themes to change the buttons, adds a nice personal touch to my PS3.
- not paying for PSN is a definite plus for me, I have enough monthly charges as is.
Intermediate things:
- The ability to play blurays has absolutely no affect on me whatsoever, and I have yet to see it truly be necessary in a game as of yet. So so far I could live without it.
- I enjoy the multiplat games I have bought, but some of them have been some saddenly poor ports (skate). This problem seems to be alleviated with the most recent multiplat games I've seen, so I'm willing to forgive the earlier issues
Things that suck like a toothless lithuanian prostitute
- Why in the world does the controller randomly cut out for 5 seconds or so? It drives me crazy sometimes and I hate it oh so very much
- what is Sony Japan doing? As a Sony fan they are really dissapointing me with their seeming lack of doing....well anything. C'mon Sony Japan....give me some JRPG's damn it
- why does it cost 3 dollars to rent Xam'd episodes? that's just aweful, and apparently I'm missing out on some pretty good anime, damn your pricing Sony.
Overall:
All in all it's been quite a journey as a Sony fan. I certainly did not expect Sony to falter on this generation after the last two, and the sales of the PS3 have definitely been dissapointing at points. There have been extremely slow seaons for gaming where it was hard to find anything to play, but that has definitely picked up for the last year or so. The lack of JRPG's has been disturbing and wholly unexpected, which I will hopefully get some alleviation from come late August. With all these things said though, I have never regretted my purchase of the PS3. I've had alot of fun with it, and it is my most played console by far (I also own a wii). Playing online games has been alot of fun, and exclusives like Uncharted and MGS4 have knocked my socks off. The generation certainly hasn't gone as I assumed it would back in the PS2 days, but I'm still happy with how things actually turned out, even if it's not ideal.
