People conveniently forget the specifics of anything which makes their arguments not hold up. This is more or less the basis of many of society's most cherished institutions, in fact. So yes, I'm sure many of them do begrudgingly remember that this is nothing new, but they're all quite happy to act like they don't or make excuses as to why it shouldn't be this way.
It really is largely just a group of over-zealous and overly vocal people raising a stink here, and if anything, they're being terribly hypocritical in the process. I mean, really, a lot of them have game collections that would rival the entire library of the SNES. It's not like they have nothing to play at all. A few games that don't interest them aren't going to somehow devalue what they already have and what they're going to get in the future.
