| Pristine20 said: Almost no one on this thread seems able to acknowledge that the wii can have problems. I'm a ps3 fan, but I'm not blind, I know sony has problems and admit them every now and then but most wii fans are just amazing! Wii Music? Animal Crossing? More peripherals? The wii is a lot of "fun"! While I don't agree that the ps3 can really attract any wii fans who want another Mario, that article raises some good points. Everyone just blows them up like: "he's a sony/ms fan blah blah blah". I admire your "loyalty" truly. |
No, we agree there can be problems. Just that in this particular case the problems are greatly exaggerated.
Do you really believe the WiiWheel and the WiiZapper (or other light-gun shell) will "go unused" with any other game?
That no one will have a use for the WiiMotionPlus?
It is only the WiiFit board that may have trouble attracting developers, but it's fine for the game it was made for. Do you see anyone complaining about the Guitar Hero/Rock Band peripherals gathering dust because they can't be used with other games? Of course not.
And the article seems to gloss over the fact that this was, pure and simple, a PR **** up on Nintendo's part. They are not depriving gamers of Core games. In a ten month period they delivered Metroid, Mario, Smash Bros, and Mario Kart. More are coming - Zelda, Pikmin, Mario, Icarus, and Punch Out are all likely in development. They just didn't announce them because they're ****ing Nintendo being Nintendo. Long time gamers know this, get irritated by it, but we will forgive them once the goods arrive.
And the article ignores the third party titles aimed for the Wii that are considered "core" like Fatal Frame 4 and Dead Rising. Any true core gamer knew that the development of Wii games started late, and that they would *start* arriving about 18 months after the Wii's success was clear. And lo and behold, as we approach the 18 month mark, the games are starting to come. Hopefully they will be more Zack and Wiki/Boom Blox than Alone in the Dark.
