The online depends on the games. SSBB is pretty bad online, but mario kart is basically lag free and fun(so I hear).
IF you didn't get resident evil 4 yet get the wii version. Same thing for okami. Fire Emblem, and Metroid prime 3, are also good. No More heroes seems to be something you would like, and I would recommend Mario kart but you don't like Mario. SSBB is excellent too. Those are just a few of the best games. Since you said Core I wouldn't recommend boom blox, but it is definitely an excellent game for core gamers too. If you want me to recommend future games I could.
