I think the author is trying to hint at something I said a long time ago. The industry is expanding like other markets. There will be companies like Nintendo who go after the cheap end family sector and companies like it seems Sony who go after the more enthoustiast crowd. There is room for both approaches!! I for one welcome this change. Though I myself will go for the Sony approach. The Nintendo way will lead to greater sales, but I think both can co-exist.
