I'm basing my opinion on what actually exists and what Capcom themselves have shown so far, everyone else is basing their opinion on speculation and what's happened to other games. If the screenshots aren't representative of what the final game will turn out like then it's Capcom's fault for showing them and my choice whether I criticise them for doing so.

I'm not asking for this game to be at the level that the 360 version was, I'm asking for it to look better than some random shovelware game and to have more enemies than a Dynasty Warriors game from a previous generation. Nothing I've seen has convinced me that way so far.

And just how often are early alpha-level screenshots ever representative of a final product?  Perhaps you remember seeing Link standing over an open treasure chest with the triforce glowing in front of him from Ocarina of Time?  That wasn't representative of the final product and there was nowhere (outside of hacking) where you'd see that in-game.  Remember those awful screenshots of Metroid IV that appeared 6 - 12 months before it came out?

Capcom handed out images of a game that is clearly unfinished for a variety of reasons.  First off, to show how it's coming along.  They know that the pictures are rough around the edges--this is just where they are "so far" on the game.  Look at it for fuck sakes:  No work has yet been done on the lighting, and the shadows are still in early form.  Look at how The Conduit evolved.  They released sample screenshots to show their direction, then look at how it is now.  It grew up and it grew up fast.  What do you think Capcom is doing over the next several months before Dead Rising comes out?  Sitting on the damn thing?  They're going to continue to work on it--including the graphics, lighting, poly count, textures, sound, control, camera, bonus features, number of on-screen zombies/characters.  Secondly, announcing a new game or a newly revamped port is always best with some included screenshots.

If these images were of the final product, they'd just release the damn thing next month and call it good.  They'll be some definite improvement between now and when the game actually comes out.  They're pretty much always is.  Hence the many long months of development time between now and it's launch date.
