Like HS said, there could be royalties involved for a company that owns an IP or franchise, that goes multiplatform.
IE, Microsoft owns Rare. If Rare made a game on the......DS, Microsoft would most likely get a cut of the profits that Rare makes.
However, since Rockband nor Guitar Hero are owned by a company that is then owned by a major hardware company, his point is moot.
On the other hand, should Rock Band break some sort of exclusivity agreement with MS (should there be one there), MS could profit from that in some way.
