If you all had read Nintendo's "Iwata Asks" articles, you would know Miyamoto is a long-time FPS fan. That's why he was playing that.
BTW, he actually suggested Metroid Prime be first person.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
