There's a strong trend for 2nd generation brands being very strong. Meaning that WiiToo(tm) will more than likely out perform Wii.

 

No there's not. Xbox 360 is doing better than Xbox, but I wouldn't call it very strong. SNES sold less than NES. The only time I can think of that happening is with PlayStation 2. Actually, those are the only three examples of so called "2nd generation brands" I can think of anyway.
