But then reliability has not been an issue for the PS3.

Still, I have to consider a future without the early run 60GB I bought since it's already seen more run time in hours than my 8 year old PS2 (initial run model, still working like new) because of Folding and all the media playback it's used for.

I have no problems with buying a PSThree model in a smaller package in a couple years that has fewer components (including the EE and GS chips), no BC, smaller die CPU/GPU, generates less heat and uses less power, even if it's not as complete as the "fully loaded" 60GB that supposedly cost Sony over $800 to manufacture.

Assuming that ever breaks, in two years, if the PS2 is still being made, or when the announcement to end production is made (not for another two years at the least), I'll buy another one to keep if I ever want to play any of my old PS2 games in addition to that second PS3, which will probably end up costing $300-400 combined.
