Yes its very important to me and the removal of BC (in EU for me) has totally reduced the PS3's appeal for me.
Reason: My PS2 is in my home country but Im in the UK for good. I still need to play SotC and God of War 2, not to mention the old classics which I like to pick up again! I am much more likely to pick up a PS2 than PS3 at the moment.
