Each cars has an average of 200k polygons, and takes 6months of one persons time to make. GT5 is the best looking racing game ever and it takes a long time to make perfection.
EDIT: Plus the fans have demaned damage and that will take even more resouces to make, plus they don't want to do the same crappy damage that was in Forza or many other racers.

There is something Polyphony can do: not bite off more than they can chew.
It's their own fault they took on a project that large and decided to go with it. It's also Sony's fault for continuing to fund them while letting them keep all that content.

When each game sells so many copies, you can't blame sony of continually supporting them when they produce one of the PS's biggest franchises. Sony should fund an expansion so that they do not take so long to make the games
